MOTORCYCLE SAFETY

Motorcycle safety concerns many aspects of vehicle and equipment design as well as operator skill and training that are unique to motorcycle riding.

The main purpose of Freedom of Road Riders® is to guard the rights of all motorcyclists; to keep them informed of laws that will help or hinder them as motorcyclists; to promote safety, rider education, brotherhood, and freedom for all motorcyclists.

Doug Clawson, the FORR Safety Coordinator, provides Rider Education Courses in Jefferson City, Kirksville, and Trenton, Missouri.

 2010 Riders Education Schedule

As a FORR® member you qualify for a $60.00 rebate upon completing and passing a Basic Riders Course (BRC) safety course and $30.00 rebate for completing and passing an Experienced Riders Course (ERC) safety course.  Complete, Print, and Mail the Rider Education Course Registration Form for your rebate. NOTE: You must be a FORR member for 30 days prior to taking the course to receive your rebate!

When planning to ride your motorcycle in Missouri, use the MoDOT TRAVELER INFORMATION MAP to check for road conditions along your intended path. If there is unfavorable road conditions on your intended path be adventurous and choose an alternate route - it could save you time and trouble!

Only you can make a difference for you! Take some simple steps to ride safely:

1. Do not drink and ride! Ride straight!

2. Watch traffic around you on the roadways – treat every other driver as if they do not see you!

3. Ride responsibly – treat other drivers with the same respect you would like for them to give you.

Remember – the life you save could be your own!
